How Hosting Works

Web Hosting & Email
     When ever you look at a web page, you are actually downloading a page that is stored on a web server.  By entering a URL (example: www.anyaddress.com) your browser is routed to the web server storing the page, downloads the files and displays them for you to see.  Similarly with e-mail, when you send or receive email, between you and the sender/receiver is a web server who stores and routes the email.

Key Elements of Hosting & Email
     Hosting providers offer different packages and features.  Major items to consider are storage space (how many files you can store on the server), bandwidth limits (how many times people can view your files), the number of email accounts you can have, support and uptimes.  While there are many more things to consider, this is a good basic list to get started with.
     It helps to know how much web space you will need before you get started.  Different styles of sites take up different amounts of space.  Large graphics and complicated programs require far more room then simple pages with small pictures.  If you have any questions on space usage, feel free to contact us.

Our Web Hosting Offerings
     We offer three types of web hosting:

  • Control Panel Access:  For those who want to manage your websites and email settings directly.  From your control panel you will have full access to all of your files, all of your email settings, and all of the features provided in the package you select.  Our Control Panel is icon driven and easy to use.

  • Quick Web / Quick Store: For our  Quick products, we manage all your services for you.  Our Quick Solutions mean you don't have to worry about running your website or changing your email routings!  We take care of everything for you.

  • Quick Store Plus:  We still maintain your files and email settings, but also provide you with access to your account's control panel allowing you to make changes to your site as required.

Email
     We offer two types of e-mail solutions, Forwarded or Hosted.
     Forwarded email service allow you to use your existing email account to receive email from your new email address.  You do not have to make any changes to your computer settings.  Email sent to your new address will be delivered to your existing email address.   Both your new address and existing email address will work at the same time.  Forwarded solutions offer a limited numbers of add on features and options.
     Hosted email accounts reside on our server.  They can be configured with any or all of our service options, depending on the package your purchase.  You can check hosted email on line via a web browser, outlook, or any POP3 service.
     FORWARDED EMAIL SERVICE IS AVAILABLE WITH ALL OF OUR PACKAGES
Buy a domain name, create your own email address, examples:
  • myname@yournewdomainname.com
  • john@yournewdomainname.com
  • sales@yournewdomainname.com
  • mom@yournewdomainname.com
Examples of some of our email features and services:
  • Auto Forward - A specific email address can be configured so that when an email is sent to the address, the original email is forwarded to another email address.
  • Bulk Auto Forward - A specific email address is configured so that when email is sent to the address, the original email is forwarded to multiple email addresses.
  • Auto Responder - Email sent to a specific address is automatically replied to with text that you create (a great way to alert people when you are out of the office for an extended time.)
  • Auto Responder Dead End - After the message has been automatically replied to, the original email is deleted.  This is great for someone looking for pre-written instructions and not requiring follow-up.
  • Bulk Auto Responder - After the message has been replied to, the original message is delivered to a group of people.  Great for sales!
  • SPAM BLOCKING - you can configure what e-mails go through.  If an e-mail is sent to an address not on your list, it can be placed in the "black whole".
  • SPAM FILTER - yes, you can use a spam filter to help reduce unwanted spam.
  • Email Lists - Send an e-mail to many people at one time, or allow other people on your list to send emails to other list member.
  • Email to Mobile Phone - If your phone allows SMS (email to mobile phone messaging) you can create an e-mail address that will send emails directly to your phone.
  • More & More & More; and the list goes on - We offer so many email features and services that we can not list them all here, and we don't even list them all on our feature matrix.  Take a look at the "package details" section of the web to see a comprehensive list.  If you need your email to do something that we don't mention on the website, let us know and we will try to accommodate you!

     We offer many features and products.  The main question to ask yourself before you purchase any of our products is, do you want to manage your website or do you want us to manage it for you.  If you want us to manage it for you, select one of our quick products.  If you want us to help you manage it, select one of our quick plus products, or alternatively, if you want to manage your site on your own, purchase one of our personal packages..
