What is a Domain Name?
A Domain Name is what follows the www in a web address
(www.DomainName.com) or what follows the @ sign in an email address
(person@DomainName.com).
Domain Top Level Extensions?
All Domain Names consist of a 2 to 4 characters after the actual Domain
Name. For example: biz,
com,
net,
info,
org,
or us.
You can use any of these extensions for your domain name based on
availability (.us is
only valid for registration if the customer is a US resident or their
business is licensed in the US.)
Additionally,
gov,
edu,
and mil
exist, but are reserved for US government agencies and US colleges and
universities.
Finding the right domain name
for you or your company...
As
time goes on, it becomes more and more difficult to find the perfect
domain name. A helpful hint, .info, .biz and .us were recently released.
You may find easier to find a domain name with these extensions.
The time from when you find the perfect domain name
until you register it can be critical. Domain Names may disappear
very quickly. If you find the perfect domain name, complete the
registration process at once to help insure you register your name before
someone else does.
Please understand, the domain name you are looking for
may be shown as available, even though it is
already taken. If someone registers the name before you it can take
up to 72 hours before it appears in the world wide web domain database
(called whois).
Additionally, from time to time domain names that are registered do not
appear in the list. If you order a domain that is not available, we
will refund your payment promptly.
Who owns the domain after I
register it?
After you have paid for your domain registration and it has been
successfully registered, you own the domain name outright. If at any
time you want to transfer ownership of the domain, all you have to do is
let us know. Unlike other providers, we do not charge you a transfer
fee and you own the domain name.
How much does a Domain Name
cost and how long is it valid?
Our
fee for a domain name is $15 per year. Domain Names with the .biz,
.info and .us extensions must be registered for a two year minimum term.
Extensions of .com, .net and .org can be registered with a minimum of one
year.
After I register a domain
name, how do I get an e-mail address and or webpage.
After you order your domain name, you will need to order services to
provide email routing and and or web space. If you only want to register the
domain name to protect it from someone else ordering it, then all you need
to do is order the domain name.
